See you soon.
These are what I commonly use in the creation of paintings like the one above
Once you've made a small, initial investment, these will last you many years.
From Left to right:
Flat edge palette knife - an excellent tool for creating magical mountains
Tear-shaped palette knife - for mixing paint on the palette (or any palette knife will do)
Stiff-bristled fan brush - perfect for creating trees and clouds
Soft-bristled fan brush - excellent for soft blending
2 x filbert brushes (or any smaller detail brushes you have)
Script liner brush - perfect for tree limbs (and for signing your master piece!)
Flat varnish brush - for applying a base coat of paint to your canvas at the start (any wide/large brush will do though)
Regular soft-bristled household/DIY paint brush - amazing for creating mist/blending.
The colours we'll commonly use are
Black, white, Raw/burnt umber,
Three primary colours ie. Red, Yellow, blue
(or versions of these colours you prefer or already have is fine.
For example I love to use a more muted palette, so in place of the brighter primary colours, I use Indian red, Yellow ochere and prussian blue))
The above Winton range of oil paints are excellent beginner level paints and can be obtained for only £2.55 per 37 ml tube at ArtDiscount.co.uk
200ml tubes (which will last a very long time) are £7.95 each.
You'll also need a small bottled of refined linseed oil
Lastly - some LOW ODOUR white spirit. This can be obtained from Wilko for £2
We'll definitely want to keep the air as fresh as possible!!!
Please bring a 20 x 16 inch canvas or canvas board and a palette.
These can be obtained from The Works, Workington (or any art shop) for around £2/£3 each
If you can, please bring any old dust sheets you have to go under the table.
I'll bring plenty of spares with me.
Please bring some painting clothes that you're happy to get paint-spattered!! We'll hopefully not make this much mess!!!! If you have a small table easel, that would probably be easiest, or whatever easel you have if you'd prefer to stand. I have a couple of spare easels just in case!
Take care & see you soon!
