At The Water's Edge

At The Water's Edge

(A poem inspired by my love of the Lake District)

I barefoot trod the wooded pass at the water's edge
Caressed by softly swaying grass at the water's edge
Beneath the sanguine, starlit sky
The tadpole winked at the butterfly
Which danced in effervescent flight at the water's edge.

The dappled deer skipped by the path at the water's edge
Where silken, scented flowers laughed at the water's edge
The rock pools glistened 'neath the moon
Which listened to the happy tune
Of daffodils and daisies strewn at the water's edge

I thought I heard a faerie cry at the water's edge
Beheld her lover asking why at the water's edge
A spring lamb gently to her knees
Lapped from the lake beneath the trees
Bleating sweetly in the breeze at the water's edge.

One thousand minnows dart and vanish at the water's edge
Their tiny hearts the darkness banish at the water's edge
The eagle swoops to join the play
And wrap his wings around the day
That flings it's soul upon the bay at the water's edge

I'll love you for ten thousand years at the water's edge
And with me take you home my dear at the water's edge
Where ancient mountains upward sprawl
And clearest, coolest fountains fall
To kiss the aged, moss-strewn wall at the water's edge.

As a visual artist, it's important for me to find inspiration before I could start an artwork. I wanted to notify you that this is an exalting piece, it is very astonishing. I can clearly picture in my head how you wonderfully describe the Lake District. Because of this poem, you make as also fall in love to that place. I'm really encouraged to interpret this literature piece into another form of art. You should continue what you're doing and I'm excited to read your future works.

Thank you so much for your kind comment I really appreciate it. I'm happy that my poem inspires you creatively. If there's one thing an artist really enjoys, it's seeing the inspiration it stirs in others. Creativity is a gift we should keep on passing on. Have a lovely, creative day. Joe.
